Diary of a DIY Dressmaker: January 2019

The decorations are down, the skies are grey but there is a positive prospect in the air.

My diary is new and I can’t wait to fill it with exciting creations and happy times.

I feel the need to have something fresh to wear crisp looking yet comfortable. I thought that the Tilly and the buttons Coco dress would be the perfect pattern. I’ve made Coco several times before but never the plain version without the funnel neck and cuffs. The style of this dress is very me, it's practical yet playful.

It didn’t take me long to pick the fabric from My Sewing Box, the Stof of Denmark Dandelions Blue Sweatshirting fabric felt like the perfect match. This fabric has a good weight and recovers well after a stretch, and is super soft and snuggly against my skin.

Like with all of Tilly and the Buttons patterns, the packaging and instructions are fantastic and really take you through every step. I recommend this pattern for a beginner to sewing with knit fabrics. The dress took me an hour and a half to sew.
