Ordering

How do I order a certain length of fabric?

All our fabrics are sold by either quarter metre or by fat quarter - the listing will tell you which. Most quilting fabrics are by the fat quarter, and dressmaking fabrics by quarter metre. We cut fabrics as a continuous piece where possible, but please note that if you order fat quarters in an odd number, you may receive a separate cut fat quarter in addition to the rest as a whole length. If we cut it as a continuous piece, it will be cut as a continuous length with an extra fat quarter square on one end.

Please be careful to make sure you have selected the correct length you need, as once cut, fabrics cannot be returned unless faulty.

Eg. if you require 1.75 metres, add 1x "1.5m" and 1x "0.25m" to your basket and we will send you a continuous length of 1.75m of the selected fabric.

Why won't it let me add the number of units I need to my basket?

If you are trying to add a certain amount of units to your basket and it won't let you, this means we don't have that much fabric in stock. Try adding less units to see what we do have available. Most of our fabrics are single print runs, which means that we cannot get any more of them once they are sold out.

Can you get more stock of a fabric?

A lot of our fabrics, especially our quilting cottons and printed jerseys, are produced on limited or single print runs - which means it's very hard to get our hands on more once we've sold it. So if there's something you love, don't leave it too late! Basics like plains we can always restock. If you need large amounts of a basic fabric (10m+) then please get in touch and we can order this in for you if we don't have enough inventory online.

I've forgotten to add something to my order - can you add it after I've placed my order?

If your order has not been processed or despatched yet then we can add to it upon request, just make sure you email us with your order number and what you want to add (stock dependent). Please note that if the value of what you want to add is under £5 then there will be an additional administration fee of £1 to make a change, to cover the additional payment fees on a second payment.

How do I match a thread to my fabric?

We now have a matched service set up for most of our fabrics on the website - add the fabric to your basket to see hand-matched products to go with your chosen fabric. If you would like us to colour match your thread for you, simply add a thread to your basket and drop us an email at info@mysewingbox.co.uk to tell us that you'd like it colour matched, and to which fabric you'd like us to match it.

How do I add a discount code to my order?

Discount codes can be added to your order at the checkout page, when you see the discount code box and prompt for codes. Please note that discount codes cannot be used in conjunction with subscription boxes or any other discount, and they cannot be applied retrospectively if you forget to add them when placing your order.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept most major debit and credit cards, Paypal, Shop Pay, Google Pay and Apple Pay for all orders except subscriptions. Clearpay is also available for orders over £60, which enables you to spread the cost in four payments - please note if you choose Clearpay for your purchase, your payment contract is with them and not us.

Subscription boxes are processed through Stripe, and you can use most major debit or credit cards to pay for your subscription. If you need to update or change your card at any time, just go to your online account, click 'manage my subscriptions' and you will be able to change your card details there.

My item is a gift, is there anything I need to do?

If your item is being sent as a gift, let us know if you want us to include a personal note from you and what you would like it to say - you can write this in your order notes when you place your order. If you don't want to include a note, make sure you tell your recipient you are sending them something as unfortunately we can't give out your personal information to them regarding the order due to GDPR regulations. We don't include printed receipts or order notes with any parcels so your recipient won't know how much you spent!

Can you send out samples?

Yes, we are happy to send out samples - we realise that you often like to feel a fabric in your fingers to understand it before you buy, which isn't always possible if you don't live nearby!

You can order a sample here - simply add as many samples as you want to your basket (we do have to make a small charge per sample) and specify in the order comments when you check out which fabrics you would like samples of. This is subject to us having at least 2 metres of the requested fabric in stock.

Subscription boxes

How do I subscribe to your boxes?

To subscribe to a monthly fabric box or Stash Club subscription, simply add the product you want to subscribe to your basket and check out.

How do I cancel my subscription?

If you have an account on our site, you can sign in and manage your subscription in your account area. If you don't have an account, you can sign up for one with the same email address as you use for your box subscription and you will be able to access to members area to manage your subscription, or alternatively you can email or phone us to let us know you'd like to cancel and we can sort it out for you.

What's the cancellation period for my subscription?

There is no cancellation period on your box - you can cancel at any time. However if your box payment has already gone through, we're afraid you can't cancel a box that is currently being processed and sent out.

Can I give a subscription as a gift?

Of course! Simply add the recipient's address as the delivery address. If you'd like us to include a special note then just let us know by emailing us or in your order notes. We won't include any receipts in the box so they won't know how much it cost!

Delivery

Where do you deliver?

We currently only deliver to UK destinations.

Who do you deliver with?

We generally use Royal Mail for most of our deliveries so they will come with your regular post, but we may also use other couriers if necessary for larger deliveries.

How much will delivery cost?

For UK destinations, delivery is a flat fee of £4.50 for standard delivery and £5.50 for first class delivery.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

Our processing time is usually around 2 working days (excluding bank holidays), and then your item will be sent via the delivery method you have chosen. For the UK this is generally 3-5 days for standard delivery, or 1-2 days for first class delivery (on top of the processing time). We cannot guarantee delivery times and the service may be slower or faster than these estimates, they are just a guide - occasionally a parcel may take longer if it gets delayed in the system with Royal Mail for whatever reason.

What do I do if my item hasn't arrived?

Most of our parcels arrive promptly within 3-5 days but we cannot guarantee delivery times and this is just an estimate. Please allow up to 10 working days for your parcel to arrive from the date of posting (UK). We use Royal Mail for most deliveries, who are generally pretty quick, but occasionally they can take a little longer. If your order still hasn't arrived 10 working days after it was due, please get in touch with us for us to arrange either a replacement or a refund.

Returns

Can I return items?

Under the distance selling regulations, you have 14 working days to return an item if you are not satisfied. The cost of returning the item lies with the buyer, and we will not refund an item until we have received the goods. Therefore, it is your responsibility to ensure that you send your return by guaranteed post if you wish to guarantee a refund.

Cut fabrics and ribbons/trims count as personalised goods, so under the Regulations, we cannot offer a refund on these, unless faulty. We thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Find more info about returns on our Returns page.
