#mysewingchallenge Week 6: Slippery Fabric
Somehow we've only got 3 challenges left of our sew-along, where did all that time go?!
This week, we're taking it back to fabrics again and challenging ourselves to get to grips with another type of tricky fabric - slippery fabrics, like silky satin, chiffon and organza. These can be SUCH a pain to sew with at times, but that shouldn't stop you from using them to make your garments - you just have to figure out how to handle them best to achieve the perfect finish.
Our top tips - if your machine keeps trying to eat it, layer it between tissue or greaseproof paper to stitch, and tear this away after. It can also be helpful to stay stitch the edges of your fabric pieces to help give them some stability! Take your time and sew slowly.
How it works
Don't forget to share your make on Instagram or Facebook with #mysewingchallenge and to tag us so we can see your entry!
You have one week to make your item and share/tag us on social media, and we will pick our winner on Tuesday next week ... who will receive a £25 gift voucher to spend on sewing goodies of their choice! We will be looking for originality, effort and beautiful projects, so don't be put off if you're a beginner - it's not about being the best, it's about having a go and pushing yourself!
