Struggle to identify fabrics when buying online? Have something tangible for reference at home when working out what fabric to use for your project, and purchasing what you need, with our handy fabric sample booklet.

This guide features 40 samples of our most common types of fabrics, to give you a good idea what they look and feel like. Samples are glued in only along the top edge so you'll be able to see what different weights feel like between your fingers. Ideal for when you can't get to your fabric shop!

As the samples are semi-loose, they may move around and fold up on themselves a little, but this is handy to know how different fibre contents behave and what to consider when choosing your fabric, ie. is it going to crease a lot when worn.

We also feature a short guide in the front about how to choose a fabric, talking you through important elements like weight, stretch, type and widths. For each fabric, we also suggest what it can be used for and the needle type you'll need to sew it.

Just what you need to help you choose the right fabric for your project

Disappointed

Very disappointed in the Fabric Sample Book. Much smaller than I thought, maybe I should've checked the size before ordering? It's A5 size, a bit like a note book and quite flimsy. The 40 samples are about 2 ins/5 cms square. Good description about the fabric and what needle size to use however lots of fabrics that are listed on my patterns ( normal tops/skirts/dresses nothing fancy) are not included in the book. In my opinion it's not worth the £19.99 plus postage £4.50.

Great idea for beginners

This is a great little book. As a beginner and someone who mostly has to buy material online i have always been nervous as i am unsure about the materials or what to buy. This gives me a better understanding now of the material i need or want. Ideal if like me your a beginner to dressmaking. Love this, its like my little seeing bible
