This guide features 40 samples of our most common types of fabrics, to give you a good idea what they look and feel like. Samples are glued in only along the top edge so you'll be able to see what different weights feel like between your fingers. Ideal for when you can't get to your fabric shop!

As the samples are semi-loose, they may move around and fold up on themselves a little, but this is handy to know how different fibre contents behave and what to consider when choosing your fabric, ie. if they are going to crease or roll up at the edges.

We also feature a short guide in the front about how to choose a fabric, talking you through important elements like weight, stretch, type and widths. For each fabric, we also suggest what it can be used for and the needle type you'll need to sew it.

Fabric Bible

Received mine & it's great. Just what I wanted to help me choose fabric online. I'm not a beginner but it's been years since I did some sewing. It's not comprehensive of all fabrics but enough to figure all the others out, which for me is part of the fun in choosing which fabric to use. . Can put the samples up to the light also to see how sheer they are. Fabulous value for money... Well done !!

Fabric sample guide

I nearly didn’t buy this on reading some reviews. However, I’m so pleased that I did. I. A complete beginner and will find this really helpful in choosing fabrics. I like that it also suggests uses and which needle to use. There are a couple of curled fabrics, these being the jersey type fabrics but it’s not an issue for me at all.

Not as expected

Really sorry but I think I expected much more. Only the very basics of fabrics and the jersey swatches are just curled up so badly that it is hard to get an idea of what I could use it for.
I think I need to make up my own swatch book
