#mysewingchallenge Week 4: Upcycling
After seeing so many amazing transformation challenges on Sewing Bee, and the rumour that it's gonna get a little crazy in this week's episode, we decided it was about high time that we went for a little upcycling challenge! We all have big fabric stashes, but it's important to try and re-use and recycle where we can to help save more fabric going to waste in landfill than needs to. There's so many awesome ways to cut up and re-use ready made garments, especially when you've got a good stash full of goodies to add into the mix!
So this week it's time to get creative with our upcycling week! It doesn't matter what garment we use but we want you to transform an old garment (or more) into something new and wearable, with a new lease of life. Don't forget that the winner gets a £25 voucher!
How it works
Don't forget to share your make on Instagram or Facebook with #mysewingchallenge and to tag us so we can see your entry!
You have one week to make your garment and share/tag us on social media, we will pick our first winner on Tuesday next week before the show... and they will receive a £25 gift voucher to spend on sewing goodies of their choice! We will be looking for originality, effort and beautiful projects, so don't be put off if you're a beginner - it's not about being the best, it's about having a go and pushing yourself!
Need some inspiration?
Amy is working on her own upcycling project for the challenge this week, but it's not quite ready yet, so you'll have to keep an eye out on our Facebook and Instagram pages to see what she's made! But she's starting out with old pair of black jeans with holes in the legs...
We've also put together a Pinterest board full of ideas to help inspire you and give you some project ideas - check out our upcycling board!
